I can t finish this dopey book Prim and Improper by Rachel Vincer is your typical contemporary romance There is nothing special about it It s not horribly bad, it s just boring and too dumb to continue reading Too naive to know she s beautiful Julia works at a Canadian newsmagazine Her nemesis is Martin, a world weary veteran journalist who has ragged blond hair, blue eyes, a lean sexy body and oh, yeah, a killer English accent Their editor tells them to collaborate on an article so that they can learn to work together, but they decide to turn it into a contest who can write the article better Sparks fly, Julia thinks idiotic thoughts like, Oh, he s such a jerk but oh, he s so sexy and Martin can t believe there s a feminine and curvy woman beneath her business only exterior Eventually, they have sex and maybe get married and have babies I don t know because I quit reading.I read only as far as I did because the book takes place in Toronto and Niagara on the Lake, a lovely little town outside Niagara Falls either USA or Canada side it s wedged between them But that familiarity with the settings only carries a reader so far, and I didn t have the patience to wade through Julia s idiotic female cooings and Martin s rebellious I don t fall in love attitude So overdone The story itself is about some kind of ghost story historical story and I just didn t care enough to give a shit to keep reading about that either So, blah Not funny Not sexy Not even stupid enough to inspire a rage filled fun review Just dopey I picked this up at a charity shop and to a charity shop it will return.

Prim and Improper (Kismet #146) LOVE AND WARThe last person Julia wanted to see at the story conference was Martin Taylor Since he d joined the staff of Canadian Horizons, he had swiped every important article that came along His English accent and worldly manner had bowled over most of the women in the office, but Julia Bennett wasn t falling for Martin s charms Beneath the sun streaked hair and raffish smile was a vulture, and there was no way she was going to let him pounce on her first cover storyBut Julia had no choice in the matter Their editor wanted a new angle on this story a mixture of Julia s fresh, spunky perspective and Martin s hard edged wit Martin and Julia would be collaborators, a team working together from research to final revisionJulia wasn t sure she d survive two weeks with the infuriating journalist Fortunately, her partner had a plan They would each write their own article, submit them anonymously, then let the editor choose the best piece A woman with a passion for competition, Julia couldn t resist the contest But every time she turned around, she found Martin studying her, making her laugh, melting her heart with kisses Didn t he understand that there was no neutral ground in love and war
