The second book in the Devil Ash Saga is every bit as good as the first If you liked that you should feel no hesitation at picking this one up What I likedThe trio of main characters get solid development both individually and as a group. The non main character parts of the cast are deeper this time around.A distinct focus on training, which allows for better understanding of how powers work.Still makes plenty of time for humor.Quality book at a price that feels like theft. What I didn t likeDuring combat, characters were a bit too chatty.Devil Ash Deceit cemented my mental image of the series as a blending of young adult books and shounen manga and it works out surprisingly well in this case I can t say there are no growing pains, as the combat dialogue came across as excessive at times, giving the impression that characters were doing a bit too much posing which is a classic anime manga thing but overall the blending is fairly smooth and brings with itthan a few benefits, not the least of which is stylish combat methods and abilities. The big draw in the series to me though, are the characters and Devil Ash Deceit didn t let me down in that regard This time the plot focusedon Aura and Shiva, with both dealing with the family issues that defined who they are now With Ash just doing his best to survive and be a good friend Which brings all three together in a very satisfying way.The general supporting cast seems to carrydepth this time over last with new villains and mentors being introduced both of which tend to occupymoral grey areas rather than black and white, who have solid and relatable motives, which I liked I recommend this book, and this series, to anybody looking for a good YA read
